Why this order?
Seven Sound! Euphonium films exist and their titles tell you nothing about which ones matter. Two are pure recaps: Welcome to the Kitauji High School Concert Band (2016) retells season 1 and May the Melody Reach You! (2017) retells season 2, so skip both if you watch the seasons. Three look equally optional but are canon-critical: Liz and the Blue Bird, Our Promise: A Brand New Day and the Ensemble Contest special. And the two 2026 Final Movie parts are the franchise's third and fourth re-telling films, this time of season 3, but with a newly written Jukki Hanada screenplay and substantial scenes never shown on TV, so they are the completion layer for fans rather than skippable filler.
The most misplaced entry is Liz and the Blue Bird. Season 2 covers the rest of Kumiko's FIRST year, while Liz is set in her SECOND year, running concurrently with Our Promise: A Brand New Day, so it belongs after season 2, before or alongside Our Promise. Our Promise itself is the only adaptation of that second year: skip it and season 3 opens with an unexplained new major character (Kanade Hisaishi) and relationships that come from nowhere.
Ensemble Contest (2023, 57 minutes) is the easiest required entry to miss: a short theatrical special set in the winter when Kumiko has just become club president, bridging directly into season 3. Season 3 (2024) is the story's actual conclusion; the Final Movie parts re-tell it in theaters (Part 1 opened April 24, 2026, Part 2 opens September 11, 2026, Japan only so far).
