Kaiju No. 8 Watch Order

Why this order?

Kaiju No. 8 is one of the easiest anime to order because it tells a single, continuous story. Adapted by Production I.G from Naoya Matsumoto's manga, it follows Kafka Hibino, a clean-up worker who dreams of joining the Defense Force and unexpectedly gains the power to become a kaiju himself. There are no spin-offs, prequels, or alternate continuities to juggle, so the right path is simply chronological and identical to release order.

The watch order is therefore short: start with Season 1 (2024), then Season 2 (2025), then the Final Chapter (upcoming). Season 1 covers Kafka's transformation, his entry into the Third Division under Mina Ashiro, and his struggle to hide his secret. Season 2 picks up directly from those events, so watching them back-to-back preserves every plot thread and character beat without any gaps. The Final Chapter, confirmed at Jump Festa in December 2025 and in production at Production I.G, adapts the concluding arcs of Matsumoto's manga, which finished serialization in July 2025.

The one thing worth knowing is the recap film. A compilation movie was released to bridge the two seasons, condensing Season 1's highlights for theatergoers ahead of the second cour. It is genuinely optional. If you have already watched Season 1 in full, the film adds nothing new and can be skipped entirely; it exists mainly as a refresher or a big-screen experience. We have left it out of the core list so the order stays clean.

Fans of monster-action series like Attack on Titan, Chainsaw Man, and Jujutsu Kaisen will feel at home here, and like those titles, Kaiju No. 8 rewards watching in simple broadcast order. No machete, no chronological reshuffle, no hidden viewing tricks: Season 1, then Season 2, then the Final Chapter, and you are fully caught up.
