Why this order?
Toriko looks like one long TV show, but three of its Japanese episodes are not really Toriko episodes at all. Episodes 1, 51 and 99 are One Piece crossovers that aired as same-morning one-hour blocks: the Toriko half sets up, then One Piece episodes 492, 542 and 590 conclude the story. They are paired half-specials, not duplicated content, and episode 99 is the famous Dream 9 special, the only anime crossover of Toriko, One Piece AND Dragon Ball Z. Because those three episodes sit outside the series' own chronology, most international versions cut them, which is why streaming apps show 144 episodes with shifted numbering instead of Japan's 147. Netflix patched the gap by packaging all three crossovers, both halves of each, as the separate 6-episode Toriko x One Piece Collaboration Special (added April 1, 2026, with English audio), so cut-version viewers can grab them there instead of hunting through One Piece.
The films are all optional. The 2009 short is a ufotable pilot, the only Toriko anime not made by Toei, and it retells the same story as TV episode 1; the 2010 Barbarian Ivy short is a second standalone pilot; the 2011 3D film actually premiered two weeks before TV episode 1 as a One Piece 3D double feature, but it is not a required prologue; and the 2013 feature, Secret Recipe of Gourmet God, slots by release date between episodes 114 and 115, once the Four Beasts arc is underway. Finally, know the ending: after the Cooking Festival arc (episodes 126 to 135) the anime caught up with the manga and wrote its own conclusion in episode 147, which contradicts the manga on major points. Canon continues in the manga from roughly chapter 230, volume 26.
How many episodes is Toriko?
Toriko has 147 episodes tracked in this guide. 14 of them are marked filler, leaving 133 canon episodes.

Frequently asked questions
How many Toriko episodes and movies are there?
147 TV episodes in Japan (April 3, 2011 to March 30, 2014) but 144 in most international versions, since the three One Piece crossover episodes are omitted. Add two pilot shorts (2009 and 2010), the 2011 3D theatrical short, the 2013 feature film Secret Recipe of Gourmet God, and the 2013 Dream 9 crossover special, for the 6 entries in this guide.
Why does my streaming version have 144 episodes instead of 147?
Episodes 1, 51 and 99 are One Piece crossovers that sit outside the series' own chronology and were cut from most international versions, shifting the numbering. Netflix and Hulu carry Western cuts, so the in-app episode 99 is not Japanese episode 99. Netflix restored all three crossovers as a separate 6-episode title, the Toriko x One Piece Collaboration Special, added April 1, 2026.
Where do the One Piece crossovers fit?
Three same-morning one-hour blocks: Toriko episode 1 pairs with One Piece episode 492 (April 3, 2011), episode 51 with One Piece 542 (April 8, 2012), and episode 99 with One Piece 590 (April 7, 2013, the Dream 9 special that also brings in the Dragon Ball Z cast). Each Toriko half sets up and its One Piece pair concludes, so watch them as pairs if you watch them at all.
Do I need to watch One Piece or Dragon Ball Z first?
No. The crossovers are self-contained fan-service specials, and skipping them costs zero Toriko plot; most international versions cut them entirely.
Does the anime cover the whole manga, and is the ending canon?
No. The anime caught up with the manga and wrote an original conclusion after the Cooking Festival arc (episodes 126 to 135): episode 147 keeps Ichiryu alive and splits up the Four Heavenly Kings' entry into the Gourmet World, both contradicting the manga, which ran until November 21, 2016 across 43 volumes. To continue canonically, pick up the manga around chapter 230, volume 26.
Is Toriko dubbed?
Only episodes 1 to 50 got an English dub (Funimation); everything after is sub-only, so dub viewers hit a wall right at the second crossover. The dub streams on Netflix alongside the Japanese audio, and Hulu carried it from April 2023, though its Hulu listing was flagged in July 2026 as expiring with renewal uncertain. The Netflix Collaboration Special crossovers are dubbed too.
How much filler does Toriko have?
Light for a three-year Jump show: 14 of the 147 episodes carry community filler flags on MyAnimeList. The bigger skip-logic headache is the crossover and cut-version numbering, not filler volume.
Where can I watch Toriko in 2026?
Netflix in the US, UK and Canada since March 15, 2026, rolling out in batches with English and Japanese audio, plus the Collaboration Special since April 1, 2026; Crunchyroll with Japanese audio; and Hulu with subs and the partial dub. Availability changes, so check your local apps.
Are the Toriko films required?
No. The 2009 and 2010 shorts are alternate-continuity pilots (the 2009 one is by ufotable and retells episode 1's story), the 2011 3D film premiered two weeks before the TV series as a One Piece 3D double feature but assumes nothing, and the 2013 feature Secret Recipe of Gourmet God is a standalone story best slotted after episode 114.
