Marvel's Spider-Man Games in Order

Why this order?

Insomniac Games' Spider-Man series is one of the rare cases where you do not need to overthink the order: release order and story order are the same thing. Start with Marvel's Spider-Man (2018), continue with the standalone Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales (2020), and finish with Marvel's Spider-Man 2 (2023). Each game picks up after the last, and characters, relationships, and consequences carry forward, so playing them in sequence is by far the most rewarding way through.

We list a single Release order here because it doubles as the chronological story order. The first game establishes Peter Parker eight years into his career, his bond with Mary Jane, and his mentor-turned-villain Otto Octavius. Miles Morales is set during the following winter and centers on Miles stepping up while Peter is away, so it sits squarely between the two mainline entries. Spider-Man 2 then brings both Peters and Miles together against Kraven the Hunter and the symbiote, paying off threads from both earlier games.

The one gotcha worth flagging: these are Insomniac's PlayStation games and are entirely separate from the films. A couple of practical notes. Miles Morales is shorter and sometimes mistaken for DLC, but it is a full standalone game and an essential bridge, not an optional side story. If you skip it, Spider-Man 2 still works, but several emotional beats land harder when you have played it. Stick to release order and you will experience the trilogy exactly as intended.
