Why this order?

My Hero Academia is one of the rare long-running anime where the "in order" question has a simple answer: watch the eight seasons in the order they aired. The plot is strictly chronological, each season picks up almost exactly where the last left off, and there are no flashback seasons or spin-off series to juggle. Start with Season 1 and continue straight through to Season 8, which concludes the Final War Arc and the anime itself. That single linear path is our default watch order, and for most viewers it is the only one they need.

The only real wrinkle is the three theatrical films. Two Heroes (2018), Heroes Rising (2019), and World Heroes' Mission (2021) are largely self-contained side-stories: they introduce one-off villains and locations, and the main TV continuity never depends on having seen them. If you want to fold them in, the natural slots are Two Heroes between Seasons 2 and 3, Heroes Rising after Season 4, and World Heroes' Mission between Seasons 5 and 6. They are skippable without losing the plot, which is why we keep them out of the canonical season order rather than forcing them into the numbering.

A common mistake is hunting for a separate "chronological" order. Because the series already airs in story order, release order and chronological order are the same thing here, so there is nothing to untangle. The films are the only optional pieces.

If you enjoy My Hero Academia's shonen-tournament structure and earnest hero themes, Jujutsu Kaisen and Demon Slayer scratch a similar itch, while One Punch Man offers a more comedic take on the superhero genre. None are required viewing, and each comes from a different studio with its own style, but they are natural next steps once you have finished Deku's journey.
