Why this order?

Release order is the default here because it is the only sequence that contains every step and because it answers the question people actually type. The catalogue is 12 studio albums released between 2006 and 2025, plus four Taylor's Version re-recordings released between 2021 and 2023. A re-recording is not a reissue: it is a new recording with its own release date, its own running order and its own previously unreleased songs. So this guide gives every Taylor's Version its own step, sitting next to the original it re-records, and never folds one into the other.

That is also the only place where release order and era order pull apart. The four re-recordings shipped in 2021 through 2023 but musically belong to 2008, 2010, 2012 and 2014, so a strict release-order run jumps out of 2019 Lover into teenage heartbreak songs, then back out to 2022 Midnights. If you are new, switch to the era order toggle instead. It walks the twelve eras in the order she lived them and plays the Taylor's Version in the original's slot at each of the four re-recorded albums, which is also how most of her streaming now runs.

Only four of the six Big Machine albums have been re-recorded and released: Fearless, Red, Speak Now and 1989. Two have not, and this is the single most botched fact in Swift order guides. The 2006 self titled debut has been fully re-recorded but never released, and no date has ever been announced. Reputation is effectively shelved rather than delayed: in May 2025 Swift said she had not re-recorded even a quarter of it and kept hitting a creative stopping point. One re-recorded Reputation track does exist in public, "Look What You Made Me Do (Taylor's Version)", licensed to Prime Video's Wilderness in 2023 and played in full on The Handmaid's Tale in May 2025, but it has never been sold. For those two albums there is no version choice to make: the originals are the listen.

Editions are the other trap, and they are worse here than the ordering. Midnights has four overlapping versions, The Tortured Poets Department released a 16 track standard and a 31 track Anthology on the same day, and The Life of a Showgirl arrived in 27 physical variants and 11 digital editions in release week alone, followed by a 19 track Acoustic Collection in November 2025. Pick one version of each and stay with it. Three smaller rules: play folklore and evermore back to back, since she wrote them as sister records; ignore the "Big Machine Radio Release Special" duplicates on streaming, which are promo repackages rather than separate albums; and do not go looking for an Eras Tour album, because none exists. The tour was released as concert films, and the only official Eras Tour live audio is a pair of bonus tracks attached to the 2025 digital deluxe editions of Lover (Live from Paris). As of mid-2026 every album on this page, originals and re-recordings alike, streams on the major services, and availability shifts, so treat the platform list below as a snapshot.

That is the main reason the era order sends newcomers to the re-recordings: they are the era complete versions.

Will the debut and Reputation ever be re-recorded?

The debut already has been. Swift said in May 2025 that she had completely re-recorded it and liked how it sounded, but no release date has ever been announced, and the widely shared October 24, 2026 and August 7, 2026 dates are fan theory with no official backing. A full Reputation (Taylor's Version) looks unlikely: in the same May 2025 letter she said she had not re-recorded even a quarter of it, and in October 2025 she said nothing was coming from Reputation anytime soon.
