Why this order?

Shatter Me is best read in publication order, because Tahereh Mafi released short companion novellas alongside the main novels to widen the point of view and bridge plot gaps. The default reading order on this page is that full sequence: the six core books with all five novellas dropped into their intended slots. Destroy Me sits between Shatter Me and Unravel Me, retelling events from Warner's perspective and reframing him before the love triangle deepens. Fracture Me falls between Unravel Me and Ignite Me, narrated by Adam Kent across the Omega Point battle. In the second arc, Shadow Me (Kenji Kishimoto) comes between Restore Me and Defy Me, and Reveal Me (a multi-POV interlude) comes between Defy Me and Imagine Me. The fifth novella, Believe Me, lands after the saga's conclusion as a Warner-POV coda.

If you would rather barrel through the central story, the main-novels-only order strips the novellas out: Shatter Me, Unravel Me, Ignite Me, Restore Me, Defy Me, and Imagine Me. Nothing in the main books becomes incomprehensible without the novellas, but you lose context that makes Warner and Kenji land harder, so most readers prefer the full sequence on a first read.

One genuine gotcha: several of the novellas are also sold in two bind-up collections. Destroy Me and Fracture Me (plus bonus material) live in Unite Me, while Shadow Me and Reveal Me are gathered in Find Me. Believe Me is sold on its own. If you buy those omnibuses, just read each novella at the slot shown here rather than saving the collection for later.

Fans of this kind of heightened YA dystopian romance often move on to comparable series such as The Hunger Games, Divergent, and Red Queen, which share the rebellion-and-romance structure that powers Shatter Me.

Do I have to read the Shatter Me novellas?

Is the Shatter Me series finished?

The core story concludes with Imagine Me, and Believe Me (2021) is the fifth and final novella, a Warner-POV follow-up. As of early 2026 these complete the published arc, with Mafi continuing to write in the world.
