Heartstopper Books in Order

Why this order?

The spine is the six graphic novels in numbered order, and 2026 closed the story twice over: Volume 6, the final volume, published in early July, and Heartstopper Forever, the feature-length Netflix finale, arrived July 17. If the film brought you here, know that the show tracked the books closely (roughly two volumes per season), and the finale covers the territory of Volume 6 and the era of the Nick and Charlie novella, so the books now deliver the complete story the show just finished telling.

The novellas are prose, not comics, and they have exact homes. This Winter is set on Christmas Day in the middle of Volume 4, expanding a day the comic only summarizes, so read it right after Volume 4. Nick and Charlie takes place about a year and three months later, tackling the long-distance question when Nick leaves for university; it slots after Volume 5 and reads just as well as a coda after Volume 6, since the finale volume covers that same era from inside the comic.

Then there is Solitaire, Alice Oseman's 2014 debut novel, which started the whole universe: it stars Charlie's sister Tori, with Nick and Charlie in the background, and it is set around the Volume 4 timeframe. It is optional, tonally darker than Heartstopper, and best read after the volumes rather than before, both because it predates Oseman's later revisions of the timeline and because Heartstopper's warmth lands differently once you have seen Tori's view of the same family. The Heartstopper Yearbook (2022) is a companion art book, pure dessert for finishers.
