Cyberpunk 2077 Comics Reading Order
Dark Horse's Cyberpunk 2077 comics are self-contained Night City miniseries, not one long saga. This guide slots Trauma Team, You Have My Word, Blackout and the rest into place around V's story and points you to the Library Editions.

Why this order?
Here is the thing that trips people up: Dark Horse's Cyberpunk 2077 comics are not one continuous story with a chapter one and a chapter fifty. Each miniseries is a stand-alone Night City tale with its own cast, so there is no single canon reading order the way there is for a superhero run. What there is, instead, is a rough position in the timeline around the game's protagonist, V. That is the only ordering question worth answering, and it is the one most "reading order" lists get lazy about.
Start with Trauma Team (2020), Cullen Bunn's four-issue opener about an EMT extraction gone wrong. It predates V's story and works as a pure entry point, no game knowledge required. Then move through the miniseries set during the game's window: Where's Johnny? (2021), a noir hunt for Johnny Silverhand's body, plus Bartosz Sztybor's You Have My Word (2021) and Blackout (2022), both anchored to Act 1's Night City. Big City Dreams (2022) reads as an aftermath piece following You Have My Word. From there the line drifts to other corners of the setting: XOXO (2023) is set in 2072, Kickdown (2024) follows it, and Psycho Squad (2025) rides along with MaxTac. Cyberpunk 2077: Chrome, the 2026 horror mini, is still wrapping up its four issues as of July 2026, so treat it as ongoing.
Because the minis are independent, our default "story" order and a plain release order barely differ, so pick whichever you like. If you want the tidy shelf version, Dark Horse collected the first three into Library Edition Volume 1 (Trauma Team, You Have My Word, Blackout) and gathered XOXO, Kickdown and Psycho Squad into Library Edition Volume 2.
These comics fill in the streets around the game rather than retell it. For that game, and the Studio Trigger anime that made David Martinez a legend, see our Cyberpunk 2077 game and Edgerunners guide, which is where the wider Night City rabbit hole really opens up.

Frequently asked questions
Do the Cyberpunk 2077 comics need to be read in a strict order?
No. Each Dark Horse miniseries is a self-contained Night City story with its own characters, so they do not chain together like a numbered comic run. We order them by rough position around the game's protagonist V, but you can honestly start with almost any of them.
Which Cyberpunk 2077 comic should I read first?
Trauma Team (2020) is the ideal starting point. It is set before V's story, needs no knowledge of the game, and follows an EMT on a doomed extraction, which is a clean introduction to Night City's brutal logic.
How do the comics relate to the Cyberpunk 2077 game and Edgerunners?
They are companion stories that flesh out Night City around the game rather than retelling V's or David Martinez's arc. The game and the Studio Trigger anime Edgerunners are the main pillars; the comics fill in side streets, gangs and one-off characters.
Where are the Cyberpunk 2077 comics collected?
Dark Horse gathered the first three miniseries (Trauma Team, You Have My Word, Blackout) into Library Edition Volume 1, and collected XOXO, Kickdown and Psycho Squad into Library Edition Volume 2. An Omnibus paperback also bundles the first three.
Is Cyberpunk 2077: Chrome finished?
Not as of July 2026. Chrome is a four-issue horror miniseries by Doug Wagner and Tommaso Bennato; issue 1 arrived in January 2026 and the finale is scheduled for mid-July 2026, so it is still an ongoing, unfinished release.
How many Cyberpunk 2077 comic miniseries are there?
Counting the Dark Horse line covered here, there are ten entries: Trauma Team, Where's Johnny?, You Have My Word, Blackout, Big City Dreams, XOXO, Kickdown, Psycho Squad, Chrome and the upcoming Jayk's Case, plus separate Edgerunners manga tie-ins.
